Science And Faith
Science and Faith Class
When modern people hear talk of science and faith, they don't know whether to stay silent or prepare for a heated debate. The story we often hear goes something like this: with the rise of science and technology, belief in God is foolish. But this is certainly not the case.
Many assume miracles cannot happen and that that science and faith cannot mix. Many people think that science is always based in truth and faith is always based on personal assumptions. But this is certainly not the case.
Our own Tom Hemmick, a distinguished professor of science at Stony Brook university, is teaching an adult Sunday school class on the subject of Faith and Science in the parlor.
This is an opportunity for us to look to see beyond the unfortunate antagonisms that often exist between people of faith and scientifically informed people and learn the orgins of modern science and how it has been both informed by and compatible with faith, through the ages and today.
The class is held at 9:45am, in our beautiful, redesigned parlor, between services on each Sunday morning.
Stop in for some coffee, some fellowship and then join in the class. You are sure to learn a great deal and find out a few things that might surprise you.
