100 for haiti
This VIDEO shows phase one of the "100 For Haiti" project, a project started by the youth of MPC who have a love for Christ and our friends in Haiti.
In 2013 a team of young people and adults visited an area of Haiti on the island of La Gonave called Betoti. They saw first hand the poverty and difficulties our Haitian friends endure. Agones Jean Jaques, pastor of the Family of God Church and administrator of the Ralph Tuthill School is in need of a new building. The youth team recognized this need and started "100 For Haiti", a fund raising effort to come up with $100,000. Their hope is to find 100 organizations or individuals who will contribute $1,000. To date they have raised about $10,000 – enough to start phase one.
MPC member Ken Robins traveled to Betoti to begin construction on a utility building that will house solar and water treatment systems. Ken documented the ground breaking and construction of the walls. This building needs to be completed before our other partners, Rotary International and local Long Island Rotary Clubs can travel to Betoti to install the water and solar systems.
Efforts continue to raise the remaining funds to complete the "100 for Haiti" project so we can move on to phase two. Visit HERE if you would like to participate. Any amount you can give is welcome.
